On Thursday, Comoros President Azali Assoumani led a government cabinet meeting, marking his first public appearance since sustaining injuries in a knife attack last week, as shown in government footage.
The video depicted Azali with a thick bandage on the left side of his forehead, smiling as he entered a car and arrived at the presidential compound. There, he greeted advisors and ministers before taking his seat at the cabinet table.
He had received minor injuries in a knife attack on Friday during a funeral for a prominent religious leader in Salimani Itsandra, a town just north of the capital, Moroni.
The attacker was later found dead in prison under unclear circumstances, according to the public prosecutor on Saturday.
