Crystal Palace’s interest in Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika, who plays for Club Brugge, continues.
The 23-year-old Nigerian player has many suitors, but due to his style of play, Crystal Palace appears particularly eager for this transfer.
Last season, Onyedika was one of the key players that helped his team win Belgium’s prestigious Jupiter Pro League title. He also led the team to the semi-finals of the Conference League with his outstanding performance.
His physical qualities are undeniable, and his work ethic and discipline are commendable. However, he has faced criticism due to receiving two red cards in his last five matches—one in the league and another in the Champions League. Nonetheless, the fact that this was his first red card in 71 league matches suggests that the criticisms may not be entirely justified.
During the summer transfer window, the Nigerian player was once again linked with Crystal Palace. However, those discussions did not progress significantly, and the transfer did not materialize.
Now, following poor results and their inability to fill the gap left by Michael Olise, Palace seems more eager to pursue this transfer. Similarly, Brugge wants to profit from the player, so if no offers come in January, they might consider agreements with other teams.
