Djibouti will host the Third Ministerial Review Conference of the Türkiye-Africa Partnership from November 2-3, 2024. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will lead the event, further solidifying Türkiye’s role as a key partner to the African Union since 2008.
The Türkiye-Africa Partnership summits, held regularly, establish strategic plans and roadmaps for the next five years of cooperation. The last summit took place in Istanbul in December 2021, and the next is scheduled for an African country in 2026. This conference marks the first visit of a Turkish Foreign Minister to Djibouti and will include bilateral discussions with counterparts from 14 African nations and officials from the African Union Commission.
Minister Fidan is expected to highlight Africa’s central role in Türkiye’s foreign policy and emphasize Türkiye’s commitment to supporting Africa’s development and stability. Türkiye will reaffirm its support for Africa’s voice on global platforms, including backing the African Union’s full membership in the G20.
The conference will assess the progress made toward the goals set in the 2022-2026 Joint Action Plan, covering areas such as Peace and Governance, Trade, Youth Development, Infrastructure, and Health. At the close of the event, Türkiye and the African Union are expected to adopt a “Joint Declaration” and a “2022-2024 Joint Implementation Report,” detailing progress and reaffirming commitments to deepen the Türkiye-Africa partnership.
