The Democratic Republic of Congo’s military announced Friday it had successfully freed 118 hostages from the ADF rebel in an operation on Wednesday.
Among those rescued were 89 men, 25 women, and four children.
The military said the hostages were liberated during a patrol mission near the village of Mont Hoyo in northeastern Ituri province, where troops engaged in combat with the rebels, ultimately securing the captives’ release.
