Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Ugandan Minister of International Relations Henry Oryem Okello signed a joint declaration on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, aimed at strengthening ties and advancing mutual African interests.
The agreement was signed at the conclusion of a round of political consultations between the two ministers. Both sides committed to maintaining ongoing consultations, facilitating visits at various levels, and deepening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, particularly in counter-terrorism and peacebuilding.
The ministers also emphasized the importance of fostering private sector collaboration to enhance trade and investment between Egypt and Uganda. Additionally, they reaffirmed their dedication to upholding regional integrity and sovereignty in line with the African Union’s principles and the United Nations Charter.
A significant point of agreement was the need for continued dialogue on the Nile River to ensure an equitable framework benefiting all Nile Basin countries, in adherence to international law.
