Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, hosted Senegal’s Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Yassine Fall, on Saturday, January 18, 2025, for bilateral discussions in Cairo. The meeting marked a milestone in Egypt-Senegal relations, coinciding with the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Dr. Abdel Aati emphasized Egypt’s historic recognition of Senegal as an independent state, underscoring the deep-rooted partnership between the countries. He highlighted the alignment of their positions on regional and international matters, lauding their collaboration in promoting African interests on global platforms. The minister also conveyed congratulations to the Senegalese government for its recent parliamentary victory.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in various sectors, particularly agriculture. Dr. Abdel Aati announced plans to lead a delegation of Egyptian companies to Senegal to explore new opportunities for collaboration.
Senegalese Minister Yassine Fall expressed gratitude for Egypt’s support and described the relationship between the nations as fraternal, noting that Senegalese nationals in Cairo feel at home.
The ministers exchanged views on pressing issues, including the Sahel and West Africa, developments in Somalia, Sudan, and the Horn of Africa, and the situation in Gaza, Syria, and Libya. Additionally, they explored ways to advance African unity, regional integration, and cooperation within the African Union framework.
