Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Ati has warned Israel against crossing a “red line” by forcing Palestinians out of their homeland, emphasizing that such actions are unacceptable to Egypt and Jordan. Speaking at a press conference during the Cairo Ministerial Conference on Gaza’s humanitarian response, Abdel-Ati highlighted the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip due to Israeli escalation, including attacks on civilians and the use of starvation as a weapon.
Abdel-Ati called for intensified international efforts to aid Gaza’s recovery and ensure the return of displaced Palestinians. He urged Israel to fulfill its responsibilities by facilitating humanitarian aid access and withdrawing from key areas such as the Rafah crossing and the Salah al-Din axis.
The foreign minister praised the United Nations, led by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, for its efforts and extended condolences to UN personnel killed during the crisis. He also appealed to countries and organizations to support Gaza’s recovery, recognize Palestine as a state, and push for its full UN membership.
Egypt, Abdel-Ati stated, remains committed to delivering aid to Gaza and working to end the violence. He stressed the urgent need for a political resolution, calling for a ceasefire to stop further bloodshed.
The Cairo Ministerial Conference, held on Monday with broad international participation, focused on mobilizing support for Gaza’s humanitarian needs and sustainable recovery.
