Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli reaffirmed Egypt’s dedication to preserving its cultural heritage through the modernization of historical Cairo, a key aspect of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s development vision.
Speaking at the handover ceremony of the “Arabesque” project in the Sour Magra El Oyoun district, Madbouli detailed efforts to transform the once-polluted and neglected area into a sustainable urban center.
The redevelopment is part of a broader plan, with over EGP 22 billion invested in central Cairo projects, including the restoration of Fustat Gardens, Ain El-Sira Lake, and Azbakeya Park.
Madbouli highlighted Fustat Gardens, a 500-acre project set to become a green cultural hub, comparable to the Green River in the New Administrative Capital.
The Premier also discussed plans for Khedival Cairo, aiming to restore its reputation as the “Paris of the East” and establish it as a center for tourism and hospitality.
He emphasized that these transformations reflect Egypt’s commitment to preserving its historical identity while fostering sustainable urban development.
The redevelopment of Sour Magra El Oyoun exemplifies this dual approach, turning an informal settlement into a vibrant and modernized area that honors the nation’s past.
Madbouli’s remarks underscore the government’s focus on combining heritage preservation with infrastructure upgrades, ensuring that Cairo retains its historical significance while meeting modern needs.
