Nigeria’s national team coach, Eric Chelle, has announced the Super Eagles‘ provisional squad. In the World Cup qualifying group stage, the team managed to collect only 3 points from 4 matches.
On March 21, the Super Eagles will face Rwanda away, and four days later, they will host Zimbabwe. Eric Chelle‘s performance is being closely watched, as he is the first non-Nigerian coach appointed to lead the national team.
Chelle has called up 39 players for the provisional squad. These players include 5 goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 10 midfielders, and 14 forwards. Out of this 39-player squad, only 23 will make the final roster for the matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
The players called up to the Nigeria national team are as follows:
Goalkeepers: Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye, Amas Obasogie, Adeleye Adebayo, and Olukayode Bankole.
Defenders: Bright-Osayi Samuel, Ola Aina, William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, Gabriel Osho, Jordan Torunhariga, Zaidu Sanusi, and Bruno Onyemaechi.
Midfielders: Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Raphael Onyedika, Fisayo Ayodele-Bashiru, Alhassan Yusuf, and Alex Iwobi.
Forwards: Victor Osimhen, who is undoubtedly the first-choice forward for the Super Eagles, followed by Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman, Victor Boniface, the in-form Cyriel Dessers, and Nathan Tella.
