Ethio Telecom Opens AI-Powered Ultra-Fast Electric Vehicle Charging Station in Addis Ababa
Ethio Telecom has announced the launch of an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Addis Ababa.
This bold move is aimed at supporting Ethiopia’s growing electric vehicle ecosystem. The charging station will be located along the Bole to Megenagna road in Addis Ababa.
This state-of-the-art charging station was developed to meet the increasing demand for fast, smart, and efficient charging solutions. It is designed with three different charging modules, allowing up to 32 electric vehicles to be charged simultaneously. The charging units can power vehicles at a rate equivalent to traveling 1 kilometer per second.
Thanks to AI, the station can optimize the charging speed and power distribution based on each vehicle’s battery requirements and user preferences. The station features eight ultra-fast charging units with speeds of up to 600 kW. These chargers can fully charge compatible vehicles in just 15 minutes.
Additionally, the station is equipped with twelve super-fast chargers, capable of reaching speeds of up to 500 kW, ensuring rapid charging. The smart pole chargers are also available to cater to emergency charging needs for drivers.
The charging station operates 24/7, providing continuous service. Customers can make payments quickly and conveniently using the telebirr SuperApp, Ethio Telecom’s digital payment platform.
With this initiative, Ethiopia has taken a significant step toward transitioning to a green economy and sustainable mobility.
The launch of this electric vehicle charging station is a clear demonstration of Ethio Telecom’s commitment to transforming Ethiopia’s transportation infrastructure.
