Mr. Mesfin Tasew, Ethiopian Airlines Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), has been recognised for his contributions to Africa’s transport sector by receiving the prestigious ‘Leadership in Connecting Africa through Transport Award’.
The award was presented at the African Prosperity Champions Awards held in Ghana’s Accra, as part of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2025.
Tasew expressed his appreciation for the recognition, stressing that it reflects the dedication and hard work of the entire Ethiopian Airlines team.
“This honour reaffirms our commitment to advancing connectivity across Africa and stimulating economic growth through air transport,” he said. “It inspires us to continue to support the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) by improving transport networks.”
The award recognizes individuals and organizations that have made significant strides in improving transportation infrastructure and connectivity across the continent. Ethiopian Airlines has played a key role in this effort by expanding its network to over 65 African destinations, modernizing its fleet and investing in advanced cargo facilities.
This year’s Africa Prosperity Dialogues focused on the theme of “Enabling Africa’s Single Market through Infrastructure: Invest, Connect and Integrate.” The discussions aligned with Ethiopian Airlines’ vision to create seamless transportation connections to support the realization of a unified African market.
