The Ethiopian government is negotiating with the armed groups
The Prime Minister of Ethiopia said this in a meeting on Thursday with the executive council of his Prosperity Party and he informed about the economic reform and the economic direction he has taken for the country.
Ethiopia started this week announced a reform of its economic policy and received many loans and grants from the IMF and the World Bank
The Prime Minister said at the meeting that peace and stability are the foundations for the implementation of the economic reform policy in Ethiopia. He emphasized how his government wants lasting peace in the region
Prime Minister Abiy “If there is no peace and stability, no investment will come, no one will invest in us, there will be no flow of tourists, and no tourists will come to us; peace and stability in our country is essential,” he said.
Ethiopia is still recovering from the civil war that took place in the north of Ethiopia, and in the last two years, there have been conflicts in the Amhara and Oromia regions, which is a threat to the peace of the region.
The Prime Minister said that the federal government is holding a series of talks with the armed groups that are fighting in the country, especially the Oromia and Amhara regions, to bring peace to the country.
“I am telling you, and you know today, that we are opening a dialogue with the armed front that is fighting in our country, especially in the Amhara and Oromia regions.” He said that in the Fano, there are several groups they aren’t united and the dialogue can be difficult”
We are also trying to resolve our conflict with Shane (OLF).
The Prime Minister has attributed the lack of results to some of the groups that are lagging behind each other and have no leadership or agenda, but we don’t lose hope for peace talks.
The Fano and OLF groups have not released any information about the Prime Minister’s speech.
The Prime Minister said that we are talking to the TPLF itself to avoid another conflict between us.
He also said that the TPLF made five mistakes that could have caused violence. TPLF still insists on holding the party congress without registering as an official Party to NEBE.
