FIFA has suspended Congo-Brazzaville’s football association (FECOFOOT), barring the country from participating in international competitions due to third-party interference in its affairs. The decision, announced on Thursday, was made in consultation with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after two joint FIFA/CAF missions were sent to Brazzaville.
According to FIFA, the suspension will remain in place until specific conditions are met, including restoring full control of the federation’s headquarters and facilities to FECOFOOT.
The ban affects Congo’s participation in upcoming matches, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Tanzania and Zambia scheduled for March.
