The Gabon Presidency has categorically denied rumors circulating on social media that Interim President General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema has resigned from the military.
Presidential Spokesperson Max Olivier Obame Ndong denied the allegations, stressing that President Nguema remains actively engaged with the military. The President attended official events with the Gabon military at the Friendship Stadium on Saturday, March 1, where he met with his comrades and held talks with military officials.
During the meeting, President Nguema addressed his fellow soldiers, calling for unity and responsibility as the country prepares for the upcoming elections. The presidency’s statement reaffirmed its commitment to the transition process and rejected any speculation about his military status.
