The 26-year-old Gambian midfielder, Alasana Manneh, a graduate of Barcelona’s academy, has transferred from Odense Boldklub to Hibernian.
The Scottish club, currently in 6th place in the league with 30 points, has signed Manneh on a three-and-a-half-year contract.
Manneh’s contract was set to expire this season, which made his transfer easier. He had previously been loaned from Barcelona B to Sabadell and later to Etar in the Bulgarian league. In 2019, he transferred to the Polish club Górnik Zabrze, where he played for three years before moving to Odense Boldklub.
However, his career in the Danish league did not go well, and his team was relegated to the second division. Manneh, who has 18 caps for the Gambia national team, usually plays as a central midfielder but has still managed to provide 7 assists. Additionally, his contributions this season have helped Odense Boldklub take an 8-point lead at the top of the Danish second division.
Hibernian’s sporting director, Malky Mackay, emphasized the player’s value, describing this transfer as “quality over quantity.”
Head coach David Gray also commented on the player:
“He’s very competitive, has a fantastic work ethic, and has good technical ability on the ball. At 26, he has good experience at the senior level and playing in high-level leagues – and he adds extra strength in depth to the middle of our midfield.”
