Experienced coach Gavin Hunt, who has previously managed major South African clubs such as SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs, shared his thoughts on some of the top players in the league during an interview with SuperSport TV.
According to him, Ribeiro—despite being a popular and widely praised player right now—would struggle to perform in a smaller team due to his lack of discipline.
“Ribeiro scores goals, but if you put him in Magesi, he will struggle. He would need to work harder there,” said Hunt.
He went on to praise Teboho Mokoena, saying:
“Teboho Mokoena is the best player in South Africa.”
When asked about the best player at Orlando Pirates, Hunt gave a surprising answer:
“The best player at Pirates is the boy in the middle. I can’t say his name exactly, it starts with an M. Makha… something. [Makhehleni Makhaula]. He is the best at Pirates. He is the glue of that team.”
Gavin Hunt has coached South African teams for over 20 years. With SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs alone, he has managed over 300 matches combined.
