The National Tripartite Committee has announced that Ghana will increase the National Daily Minimum Wage by 10 per cent to GH₵19.97 for 2025. The decision was made at a meeting held in Accra on Thursday, February 20.
The wage adjustment is part of efforts to ensure fair workers’ compensation while maintaining economic stability and business sustainability.
Announcing the decision, Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo said the new wage represents a 10 per cent increase over the 2024 rate and will come into effect from March 1, 2025.
“All institutions, institutions and organizations whose daily minimum wages are below the new rate should adjust accordingly,” he said.
Previous Wage Adjustments
Before this increase, the national minimum wage was at GH₵18.15, a slight increase from GH₵14.88 in 2023. Meanwhile, over 700,000 public sector workers received a 15 percent wage increase in 2024.
Despite delays in negotiations for the 2025 wage and basic wage, the latest increase provides better earnings for workers in various sectors.
