South African companies and stores have announced significant discounts on tech products for this year’s Black Friday.
In recent years, online shopping in South Africa has increased significantly, similar to global trends. According to a study published by World Wide Worx, online retail sales in South Africa reached R71 billion in 2023, marking a 29% increase.
The growing popularity of companies like Temu and Shein appears to be one of the main reasons for this rise.
Wayne Panaino, e-commerce general manager at First Technology, announced that the First Shop store will offer one of its biggest discount campaigns to date. The special discounts will include laptops, desktops, monitors, and gaming equipment. Additionally, ultra-fast SSDs and graphics cards will also be part of the promotions.
“Moreover, there will be limited ‘doorbuster’ deals for early customers,” Panaino stated. He also mentioned that there would be long-term warranty options, free shipping, and installment payment choices.
The discounts on laptops, TVs, and gaming categories could reach up to 40%, according to Teljoy marketing manager Michelle Steyn. “Consumers can look forward to TV deals starting at R279 per month, including a TV license on all TVs, as well as free delivery on all Teljoy products,”
