On December 2, Guinea-Bissau’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Communities, Carlos Pinto Pereira, met with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during an official visit to Baku. The discussions, held in both one-on-one and expanded formats, focused on enhancing cooperation between the two nations across various sectors, including politics, economics, education, energy, and tourism.
Minister Pereira highlighted Guinea-Bissau’s commitment to strengthening ties with Azerbaijan, expressing appreciation for Azerbaijan’s initiatives within the “Non-Aligned Movement (NAM)” to support African nations. He noted Guinea-Bissau’s interest in adopting Azerbaijan’s “ASAN Khidmet” model to improve public services and foster development.
Both ministers underscored the importance of high-level visits and mutual collaboration, referencing the Guinea-Bissau President’s participation in COP29 and recent meetings with Azerbaijan’s leadership. They emphasized the value of experience-sharing in economic development and resource management.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations, reaffirming the two countries’ commitment to ongoing dialogue and cooperation within multilateral platforms like the United Nations and Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
