Star player Achraf Hakimi, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), aims to win either the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) or the FIFA World Cup with Morocco.
One of the best right-backs in the world, Hakimi played a key role in helping his national team reach the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup. Morocco became the first African nation to achieve this milestone.
In the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, they have won all their matches in Group E and have almost secured their spot in the tournament. Still only 26 years old, the star player shared his dreams of success with the national team using these words:
“I think it would be great to win everything with Paris,”
“But with Morocco, the feeling is different—the World Cup doesn’t happen every year, so I would prefer to win something with Morocco, like the World Cup.”
“Winning something with Morocco, whether it’s the Africa Cup of Nations or the World Cup, is what I dream of.”
Morocco has only won the AFCON once, back in 1976. That’s why the momentum they’ve gained recently holds historical significance for them.
Additionally, the fact that the 2025 AFCON will be hosted in Morocco, along with the 2030 FIFA World Cup also set to be held in the country, will help Hakimi in his pursuit of this goal.
