Hamza Igamane Sees Olympiakos Rival El Kaabi as a ‘Brother’
Rangers forward Hamza Igamane has stated that he considers his Europa League rival, Olympiakos striker Ayoub El Kaabi, as a brother.
The 22-year-old striker has set his sights on representing the Morocco national team.
Despite Morocco boasting a strong attacking lineup, rumors have been increasing about the possibility of Igamane receiving a call-up soon.
Hamza Igamane on Ayoub El Kaabi
Speaking about El Kaabi, Igamane acknowledged the Olympiakos forward’s achievements, particularly his success in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
He highlighted El Kaabi’s impact, noting that winning the tournament and finishing as the top scorer was a significant accomplishment.
“El Kaabi is a brother, he is someone I really like,” said Igamane. “
*Of course, I was able to draw inspiration from him. He still won the Europa Conference League with Olympiakos and he finished top scorer in the tournament, that’s not nothing. His influence is positive.”
Igamane also spoke about his motivation to improve, taking inspiration from experienced players around him.
“It makes me want to work even more, to follow in his footsteps, and why not achieve something wonderful with Rangers?”
“I don’t hesitate to observe the most experienced players to get the best ideas from them.”
Future at Rangers & Morocco Call-up
Hamza Igamane also discussed his future at Rangers and the growing interest from other clubs. However, regarding a potential call-up to the Moroccan national team, he made it clear that he respects the coach’s decision.
“That’s up to the coach to make his choices,” he said.
“As for me, I haven’t had any official contact with members of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).”
Despite the speculation, Igamane remains focused on his work at the club.
“But I’m not focusing on that any more than that, I’m focused on my work at the club. I still have work to do and things to prove to maybe gain Walid Regragui’s trust in the future.”
The young forward has a long road ahead, but if he continues to prove himself, he could one day share the pitch with El Kaabi in the Moroccan national team.
