At least 40 members of the militant group Alshabab were killed during an internal dispute between rival factions in Somalia’s Bakol region, according to local reports on Tuesday.
The clashes reportedly arose from disagreements over financial resources extorted from local communities, escalating into violence in El-Dhun Adegow, a rural area about 42 kilometers northwest of Baidoa.
Reports by Hiiran Online indicate that senior Alshabab leaders were among those killed or injured, though their identities and roles remain undisclosed.
The group has not released any statement regarding the incident. This development highlights ongoing divisions within Alshabab as it continues to face increasing pressure from Somali security forces and allied local militias.
