Ivory Coast set a new record for the lowest total in men’s T20 internationals by scoring only seven runs in their match against Nigeria.
Nigeria, in contrast, set a target of 271 runs after Selim Salau hit 112 runs off 53 balls. However, Ivory Coast could only respond with seven runs, breaking the previous record of 10 runs set by Mongolia earlier this year.
By scoring this incredibly low total, Ivory Coast extended the record for the lowest score in T20 internationals. Moreover, Nigeria’s victory by such a large margin made it the third-largest winning margin in T20 history.
Ivory Coast’s struggles in T20 cricket are evident, as they suffered another heavy defeat in their previous match, losing to Sierra Leone by 168 runs and only managing to score 21 runs.
While Ivory Coast now holds the record for the lowest total in men’s T20, when including women’s cricket, the lowest score is six runs, a record shared by the Maldives and Mali women’s teams. Both teams achieved this disappointing result in matches played in 2019.
