One of South Africa’s most established clubs, Kaizer Chiefs, seems likely to miss out on another key transfer target, who is expected to join a different team.
South African striker Lebo Mothiba, whom Kaizer Chiefs were keen to sign, now appears set to join Wydad Athletic Club from the Moroccan League.
The free agent, who has been on the radar of several clubs since recovering from injury, has reportedly drawn more serious interest from Wydad Athletic Club.
Despite adding players such as Bongani Sam, Fiacre Ntwari, Bradley Cross, Rushwin Dortley, and Gastón Sirino to their squad under coach Nasreddine Nabi, Kaizer Chiefs have struggled to start the season well.
For this reason, the management is not overly optimistic about this season and is instead focused on investing for the next.
Additionally, they are looking to activate the buyout option for defensive midfielder Njabulo Blom, whom they currently have on loan, to make his move permanent.
While this move would help the team maintain their squad strength, missing out on South African international striker Lebo Mothiba could harm them in the long run.
