The legendary defender of the Kenyan national team and Gor Mahia, Austin Oduor, passed away today.
Oduor led his team to win the Mandela Cup in 1987 and left many wonderful memories in the minds of the fans.
The late former Kenyan national team goalkeeper Arnold Origi is his son, and he is also the brother of another national team player, Mike Okoth.
His brother Origi stated that he had no chronic illnesses and had been taken to the hospital after falling ill yesterday.
Former teammate Sammy Kempes Owino expressed his deep sorrow upon hearing the news: “Oduor was a childhood friend; we grew up together. In fact, I’m the one who recommended him to Gor; we literally lived together. We played together at Umeme FC. In 1981, we went with him to Malawi to play in the East African Championship; at that time, he wasn’t a regular, but I knew he was going to be something.”
“My sincere condolences to the family and friends of friend and brother Austin Oduor; he will be dearly missed by so many.”
