Police in Homa Bay County are actively searching for suspected drug traffickers who escaped a police operation, leaving behind a large consignment of cannabis.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that officers responded swiftly after receiving a tip-off from vigilant locals about a suspicious vehicle parked at a homestead. Upon arrival, a black car sped off towards Homa Bay, while three men fled by jumping over a fence.
During a thorough search of the premises, police uncovered eight sacks of cannabis, alongside an abandoned vehicle. The confiscated drugs were taken to Homa Bay Police Station for safekeeping as evidence, while efforts to capture the suspects continue.
Authorities praised the community for their alertness and urged continued cooperation to combat drug trafficking in the area.
This case follows similar recent drug busts in Kenya. In August, police intercepted 10 sacks of cannabis hidden in a lorry near Kisumu, and in September, a consignment of cocaine worth millions was seized at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. These incidents reflect the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb drug trafficking in the country.
