Nairobi has been named the host city for the 2025 World Chambers Federation (WCF) Africa Summit, marking a significant milestone as Africa takes center stage in global economic discussions.
This announcement was made during the WCF Europe and Asia Summit held in İstanbul, Türkiye, where Erick Rutto, president of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), accepted the leadership mantle for the upcoming event.
Scheduled to occur from April 9 to 11, 2025, the WCF Africa Summit will be the first such gathering held on the African continent. The event aims to provide a platform for advancing economic cooperation and spotlighting Africa’s growing role in the global economy.
The handover ceremony featured prominent figures such as WCF chairman Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Secretary-General John Denton.
In his remarks, Rutto emphasized the importance of this summit for furthering WCF’s mission and underscored Africa’s economic potential. “Africa is poised to drive conversations around inclusive economic growth and trade integration,” he stated. He added that initiatives like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) would be critical in positioning the continent on the global stage.
The WCF Africa Summit is expected to focus on key topics, including global trade, technological innovation, and sustainable development.
WCF chairman Hisarcıklıoğlu expressed confidence that the summit, under Rutto’s leadership, will have a lasting impact on chambers worldwide and contribute to Africa’s economic progress.
John Denton, representing the ICC, highlighted the organization’s enthusiasm for expanding its reach into Africa. He noted that the 2025 summit would likely be the largest business event of the year, fostering international cooperation and driving inclusive growth globally.
Hosting this major summit solidifies Nairobi’s growing status as a key hub for international business dialogue.
