Liberian authorities have arrested Operating Room Technician Sam Wolobah for allegedly performing the surgery that led to the death of 30-year-old Samuel P. Kollie.
The Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) confirmed Wolobah’s arrest and announced that the Lofa Medic Services Clinic in Neezoe, Jacob Town, where the incident occurred, will be closed immediately. The decision comes after allegations of medical malpractice in connection with Kollie’s death.
An investigation by the LMDC revealed that Wolobah, who ran the clinic, falsely claimed to be a licensed physician despite not having a formal medical degree. He allegedly performed the surgical procedure that led to Kollie’s death.
In response, the LMDC, in coordination with the Department of Justice, ordered the clinic to be closed and referred Wolobah to the Liberia National Police (LNP) for further investigation.
LMDC representative James-Emmanuel D. Cole, Jr. emphasized the council’s commitment to removing unqualified individuals from the health system.
“We work tirelessly to ensure that only qualified professionals are serving in Liberia’s health sector,” Cole said.
LMDC’s actions align with broader efforts to strengthen medical regulation and protect the integrity of Liberia’s health system.
