Libyan Prime Minister Dibeybe inaugurated the first stage of the highway connecting the capital Tripoli and the city of Tarhuna, built by a Turkish construction company.
The opening ceremony, held at the point where the first stage of the road built by a Turkish construction company in Tarhuna, Libya, was attended by Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dibeybe, as well as Minister of Transport Muhammed Shuhubi, Minister of Communications Velid al-Lafi, Counselor of the Turkish Embassy in Tripoli Doğukan Arda Ülgen, and Chief Trade Counselor of the Turkish Embassy in Tripoli Yusuf Yıldız.
Prime Minister Dibeybe and his delegation examined the ongoing works on the highway on site and listened to the views of Libyans using the highway about the newly constructed road after the opening.
In his speech at the opening, Dibeybe stated that the highway project connecting Tripoli and Tarhuna is one of the priorities of the National Unity Government and is of vital importance for Libyans who have difficulty in transportation in the region.
Şükrü Atay, General Manager of the İnfitah Company, which is carrying out the project, said in a statement that they are continuing the construction of the Tripoli-Terhune highway, which is one of the main arteries connecting the dense settlements of Libya.
Noting that the Tripoli-Terhune road was built in the 80s with a width of 7 meters, with 2 lanes going and 2 lanes coming, Atay said that they rebuilt the 82-kilometer road with a width of 9 meters.
Atay said, “We opened the first stage of 25 kilometers, which we completed with the participation of Prime Minister Dibeybe, 70 of the 300 personnel working on the project are Turkish employees,” and indicated that the work on the 16-kilometer section is also ongoing.
The Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, Emrah Kekilli, said that Prime Minister Dibeybe examined both the asphalt works in the region and the manufacturing works of the concrete separating the highway on site and gave the instructions to the company officials that the work should continue rapidly.
Expressing their happiness to have delivered the first phase of the project to the Libyan people, Kekilli stated that they are continuing their work to complete the second and third phases.
