Libya’s National Safety Authority has heightened its readiness nationwide in response to severe weather warnings issued by the National Meteorological Centre. The forecast predicts heavy rainfall beginning Thursday in the Greater Tripoli region, with thunderstorms and flash floods expected in various areas.
The authority stressed the urgency of safeguarding lives and property, announcing intensified coordination with security forces, emergency responders, and relief organizations to manage potential crises effectively.
Meteorologists have cautioned that the anticipated downpours may lead to flash floods in valleys, rising water levels in low-lying areas, and localized flooding. Strong coastal winds are also forecast, heightening risks in affected regions.
The Tripoli Security Directorate has urged residents to remain vigilant, avoid flood-prone zones, and drive cautiously to minimize accidents on slippery roads or landslide-prone areas.
Authorities assured the public that crisis management teams are on standby to mitigate storm impacts and have advised residents to stay updated and follow safety guidance as weather conditions unfold.
