The State of Libya is hosting a high-level state-economic delegation from the Republic of Serbia, led by State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nikola Stojanović. The visit, which includes key meetings with Libyan officials and participation in the Libyan-Serbian Business Forum in Tripoli, marks a significant step in fostering closer cooperation between the two nations.
On the first day of the visit, the Serbian delegation met with Libya’s Minister of Transportation, the Deputy Minister of Finance, and Special Advisors to the Prime Minister, including Mohammed Al-Shahoubi and Dr. Mustafa Mana, who also serves on the Board of Directors of the Libyan Investment Agency. A separate meeting was held with Mohammed Al-Raied, a member of the Libyan Parliament and President of the Union of Libyan Chambers of Commerce.
Discussions emphasized the long-standing friendship between Libya and Serbia, commemorating 70 years of diplomatic relations this year. Libyan officials highlighted the reopening of the Serbian Embassy in Tripoli as a pivotal moment in revitalizing ties between the two nations.
Both sides expressed a shared commitment to strengthening economic cooperation, with Libyan officials encouraging the return of Serbian enterprises to the Libyan market. Talks focused on potential collaborations in construction, transportation, the food industry, geological exploration, and ICT. Libyan representatives underscored the country’s extensive need for foreign investments and partnerships across all sectors, opportunities that will be further explored during the upcoming business forum.
