Mastercard has partnered with Orange Middle East to facilitate digital payments for Orange Money wallet holders in several African countries.
This strategic partnership, aimed at improving mobile financial access, currently covers Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Senegal, and Sierra Leone.
As a result of this move, millions of Orange Money wallet holders may soon be able to easily complete digital transactions through Mastercard’s network. One of the biggest challenges in some parts of Africa is limited access to banking services.
This partnership aims to both accelerate financial access and contribute to the financial development of underserved communities.
Customers can benefit from this service by either obtaining a virtual bank card via Orange’s Max it app or acquiring a physical card from designated Orange Money Mastercard sales points.
Aminata Kane, CEO of Orange Money Group for the Middle East and Africa, made the following statement regarding the partnership:
“Our collaboration with Orange Money represents a significant step in unlocking the full potential of digital financial services across Africa, enabling millions to participate in the global economy.”
Orange currently has 37 million active Orange Money accounts across 17 countries in Africa and the Middle East. This data highlights how significant this partnership could be for these regions
