Mauritania has embarked on a transformative initiative to empower its youth through modern technology and education, in collaboration with the Turkish Technology Team (T3) Foundation, the organization behind the globally renowned Teknofest Festival.
On Tuesday, Mauritania’s Ministry of Vocational Training, Traditional Arts, and Handicrafts signed an agreement with the T3 Foundation to establish a new science and technology hub, named Science Nouakchott, in the nation’s capital. The initiative aims to provide young Mauritanians with advanced training in innovative educational and technological fields.
Speaking on the partnership, the T3 Foundation highlighted its commitment to equipping Mauritania’s youth with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving global landscape. “This groundbreaking project marks a significant step toward illuminating the future of Mauritanian youth,” the foundation stated.
The agreement was formalized by Mohammed Ould Huweiriyye, Acting Secretary General of the ministry, and Elvan Kuzucu Hıdır, Chairperson of the T3 Foundation Board. Mauritanian Prime Minister El Moctar Ould Djay was also present at the signing ceremony, emphasizing the government’s dedication to enhancing opportunities for the country’s younger generation.
A New Era of Opportunity
Once completed, the Science Nouakchott centre will provide children and young people with state-of-the-art resources to pursue their aspirations through science and innovation.
This initiative underscores the strengthening ties between Türkiye and Mauritania, which have deepened over recent decades through trade and investment partnerships. Turkish companies are actively contributing to Mauritania’s development, and this latest collaboration reflects the growing bond between the two nations.
The new science hub is expected to serve as a catalyst for Mauritania’s technological and educational advancement, opening new doors for its youth to engage with the global economy.
