Microsoft and NVIDIA to Collaborate in Supporting AI Startups Across Africa
Microsoft has launched a new initiative through its Africa Transformation Office to foster collaboration between startups and the business world, aiming to drive the rapid and effective development of artificial intelligence (AI) across the continent.
This initiative marks the beginning of Microsoft’s partnership with NVIDIA, focused on accelerating the growth and innovation of AI startups in Africa.
The announcement of this partnership was further solidified during the Microsoft African Companies AI Fest held in South Africa. Gerald Maithya, General Manager of the Microsoft Africa Transformation Office, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating,
“We are thrilled to offer African AI startups the vital resources and support they need to thrive. Our partnership with NVIDIA Inception will empower startup founders to harness Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure, AI tools, and go-to-market support.”
“This collaboration will address critical challenges, such as scaling their solutions globally and reaching a wider customer base. We eagerly anticipate welcoming local entrepreneurs into this dynamic program to shape the future of AI in Africa.”
Africa continues to experience remarkable growth in AI technology, with this development creating new employment opportunities across the continent. Currently, there are nearly 2,500 AI startups operating in Africa. Through this partnership, Microsoft and NVIDIA will provide startups with access to technological resources, venture capital, and other valuable opportunities.
Microsoft’s For Startups Founders Hub has already supported over 14,000 startups across the continent. Through this initiative, startups will gain access to mentorship, go-to-market support, technical resources, and networking opportunities.
Furthermore, virtual AI training sessions in Nairobi, Kenya, will deepen the collaboration between these two tech giants, expanding the opportunities available to African AI startups.
