A Moroccan delegation from the southern provinces recently visited Trento, Italy, to present investment opportunities in the region, underscoring its economic, cultural, and tourism potential. The meeting, held this weekend, brought together Italian officials, prominent business leaders, and members of the Moroccan community in Italy to explore ways of fostering deeper economic ties between the two nations.
Organized by the Consulate General of Morocco in Verona, the event coincided with the 49th anniversary of the Green March and the 69th anniversary of Morocco’s independence. These commemorations served as a backdrop to highlight the remarkable progress made in southern Morocco, which is increasingly seen as an attractive destination for foreign investment.
The delegation, which included local parliamentarians, government officials, and department heads, presented a detailed picture of the region’s growth, emphasizing key sectors driving its development. They outlined various legal reforms and investment incentives designed to make southern Morocco a favorable environment for international businesses.
The discussions also centered on the broader economic transformation underway in Morocco under the leadership of King Mohammed VI. His vision for sustainable development has been particularly impactful in the southern provinces, positioning the region as a key player in global investment and tourism. Delegates encouraged Italian investors and the Moroccan diaspora in Italy to seize the emerging opportunities in a rapidly growing market.
Ouafa Zahi, the Consul General of Morocco in Verona, highlighted the strong and enduring diplomatic relations between Morocco and Italy, which will soon celebrate 200 years of bilateral ties. She emphasized the strategic and multifaceted partnership between the two countries, spanning political dialogue, economic cooperation, security coordination, and mutual efforts on migration and consular affairs.
Zahi also pointed to the impressive growth of southern Morocco, which has seen significant infrastructure and economic development, transforming it into a prime destination for both foreign capital and global tourism. She attributed this success to the strategic leadership of King Mohammed VI and reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to further strengthening economic ties with Italy.
In conclusion, Zahi announced plans for additional meetings aimed at establishing stronger economic cooperation and facilitating partnerships between businesses in Italy’s Trento region and southern Morocco.
