Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch attended the opening of the 2025 International Agricultural Fair (SIA) in Paris on Saturday. He was joined by French President Emmanuel Macron at one of the world’s most important agricultural events.
The 61st edition of the SIA runs from February 22 to March 2. The event began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Akhannouch and Macron, officially starting the exhibition. The fair is a key platform for showcasing agricultural innovations and discussing global challenges in the industry.
Morocco is the first foreign country to be named the guest of honor at the SIA. This highlights the strong partnership between France and Morocco. Akhannouch led a high-level delegation that included Ahmed El Bouari, Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, and Samira Sitail, Morocco’s Ambassador to Paris. Key agricultural leaders and members of the French government also attended.
After the ribbon-cutting, Akhannouch signed the SIA guestbook. This gesture reinforced Morocco’s central role in this year’s event. The recognition shows Morocco’s growing influence in global agriculture. The country continues to position itself as a model for sustainable and intelligent farming.
The Moroccan pavilion covers 476 square meters. It showcases the nation’s agricultural diversity and innovative practices. Visitors can see Morocco’s well-known products, including olives, citrus fruits, and argan oil. These products highlight the country’s export potential.
This year’s SIA is expected to attract over 600,000 visitors. The event features about 4,000 animals and 1,000 exhibitors across 16 hectares and nine pavilions. Morocco’s role as the guest of honor also reflects its close relationship with France. Their partnership goes beyond trade to address issues like food security, water management, and agricultural innovation.
In April, France will be the guest of honor at the International Agricultural Fair in Meknès, Morocco. This exchange shows the continued cooperation between the two nations in tackling global agricultural and environmental challenges.
Morocco’s participation at the SIA highlights its agricultural achievements and its role in advancing farming practices. As the event continues, Morocco’s involvement is expected to encourage discussions on sustainable agriculture. It also contributes to global food security and environmental sustainability.
