Morocco and Slovakia have announced plans to enhance their political and economic relations, with a focus on boosting trade and addressing illegal migration, according to the Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Slovakian Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár recently discussed these priorities during talks with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and a meeting with Azzeddine Farhane, Morocco’s Ambassador to Austria, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
Morocco, a significant African trade partner for Slovakia, recorded bilateral trade valued at €386 million last year. Opportunities for collaboration in the automotive and defense industries were identified as key areas of interest.
As part of its strategy to strengthen ties with Africa, Slovakia plans to open embassies in Algeria and Tanzania and establish a permanent mission in Ethiopia. This expansion aims to solidify partnerships in economically dynamic regions such as Morocco.
Joint ventures in Morocco’s expanding defense sector were emphasized as a strategic pathway for Slovak businesses to access broader African markets. The cooperation underscores Slovakia’s intent to deepen engagement with Africa through Morocco’s pivotal role in the region.
