The 29-year-old Guinean central midfielder Naby Keita will join Ferencvaros on loan during the winter transfer window.
Keita, who had transferred from Liverpool to Werder Bremen, was sidelined after refusing to travel with the team for a match. As a result, his agent began searching for opportunities with a new club.
Werder Bremen’s Sporting Director Clemens Fritz commented on the Ferencvaros move:
“We are pleased to have found a solution, together with Naby and his agent. For us, it was clear that Naby would not play for Werder again. As such, the loan deal is the right move both for us and for him. We wish Naby all the best in Hungary.”
Ferencvaros will take Keita on loan with an option to buy.
Although Naby Keita left a lasting impression at Liverpool with his successful performances, his time at Werder Bremen was limited to just five matches, primarily due to the aforementioned incident.
