Namibian President Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, in his speech in UN General Assembly, emphasized Namibia’s concerns about international peace and security, starting with the urgent need for action on the conflict in Gaza.
“Namibia urges the UN to support implementing the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion and condemns Israel’s actions as genocidal. It calls for a ceasefire and unrestricted humanitarian aid to Gaza.” he said.
The President also called for the end of economic sanctions, including the blockade on Cuba and sanctions on Zimbabwe, which he argued hinder progress toward Sustainable Development Goals. He claimed “The continued denial of self-determination for Western Sahara is highlighted as a violation of UN principles.”
In conclusion, Namibia reaffirmed its commitment to the United Nations and called for greater global collaboration and dialogue to achieve peace, justice, and prosperity.
