Namibia and Cameroon finished in a goalless draw. The first match of AFCON Matchday 5 brought a surprising result, as Namibia, with four losses in four games, managed to hold Group J leaders Cameroon to a draw.
Despite the result, Cameroon has secured their spot to advance from the group; however, they risk losing the top position if Zimbabwe defeats Kenya.
The match also brought two setbacks for Cameroon. Yvan Neyou and Nicholas Moumie Ngmaleu sustained injuries and had to be replaced by substitutes. Furthermore, Cameroon’s recently in-form forward, Bryan Mbeumo, did not participate in this game.
Namibia’s starting lineup included: Edward Maova, Ivan Kamberipa, Kennedy Eib, Charles Hambira, Ngero Katura, Riaan Hanamub, Prins Tjiueza, Vitapi Ngaruka, Aprocius Petrus, Deon Hotto, and Peter Shalulile.
Cameroon’s starting XI was: Andre Onana, Nohou Tolo, Christopher Wooh, Michael Ngadeu, Jackson Tchatcgoua, Martin Hongla, Christian Bassogog, Frans Magri, Yvan Neyou, Nicholas Moumie Ngmaleu, and Vincent Aboubakar.
The other group match between Zimbabwe and Kenya will be played on Friday.
