Napoli wants to sign Africa’s Footballer of the Year, Ademola Lookman. During the January transfer window, Napoli sold their star player, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, to PSG for €75 million. Now, they see the Nigerian star as the perfect replacement.
Before targeting Lookman, Napoli had started negotiations with Manchester United’s young talent, Alejandro Garnacho. However, the two sides failed to reach an agreement. Now, Napoli is fully focused on signing Lookman. In fact, they are even considering including Giacomo Raspadori in the deal to persuade Atalanta.
Talks are ongoing, but Atalanta is reluctant to let go of their star player. Aiming for the top of the league, Atalanta is not keen on strengthening their rivals by selling Lookman to Napoli.
Meanwhile, Lookman is interested in returning to the Premier League at the end of the season. Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are all monitoring his situation.
Lookman has been impressive in an Atalanta shirt, scoring 46 goals and providing 25 assists in 105 matches. This season, he has maintained his form, contributing 14 goals and 7 assists, helping his team reach third place in Serie A.
It looks like this will be a very difficult transfer for Napoli to pull off.
