Ronald Lamola, South Africa’s newly appointed Minister of International Relations, has affirmed his dedication to advancing cross-border legal matters and human rights issues, a trajectory he previously followed as the country’s Justice Minister.
Emphasizing that there is no ambiguity surrounding the nation’s foreign policy, Lamola highlighted that it remains anchored in the Constitution and the framework of national interests.
In his new role, Lamola outlined the need to boost economic cooperation to attract foreign direct investment and address unemployment challenges.
Following his reappointment as a minister, Lamola is set to represent South Africa on the international stage with a renewed focus and determination.
He reiterated his commitment to extraditing individuals wanted for prosecution in South Africa and pursuing the country’s genocide case against Israel, underscoring the importance of these matters from a principled standpoint.
“Global stakeholders, both from the southern and northern hemispheres, are increasingly recognizing the necessity of these legal actions, as evidenced by recent shifts. The President’s discussions with the U.S. President yesterday demonstrate the principle-driven approach we maintain,” stated Lamola.
Furthermore, Lamola affirmed that the new administration will prioritize active engagement in multilateral and regional organizations, as well as ensuring that the Africa Free Trade Agreement benefits the entire continent.
