The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that it is preparing to evacuate Nigerians from Lebanon due to the ongoing Israel-Hezbollah conflict.
Ambassador Eche Abu-Obe, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made this known in a statement on Friday in Abuja. He noted that the government is taking steps to ensure the safety and protection of Nigerian citizens in Lebanon.
The Nigerian Embassy in Lebanon has been issuing regular advisories to the community, providing safety instructions and recommending voluntary evacuation since August, while commercial flight options remain available. Additionally, Nigerian nationals in southern Lebanon have been moved to Beirut and other safer locations with the help of local community leaders.
Abu-Obe emphasized that no Nigerian lives have been lost since the conflict began and reassured citizens that the government is actively engaging with relevant stakeholders to prioritize their safety. He confirmed that preparations for the evacuation are underway.
