Nurses in Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city, have launched a three-day warning strike to protest the government’s refusal to implement salary restructuring for their profession. The nurses claim the authorities have addressed similar demands for doctors but neglected their grievances.
A spokesperson for the group revealed that negotiations with government officials ended in a stalemate, prompting the decision to proceed with the strike.
The matter has reportedly been ongoing despite repeated attempts by nurses’ unions to reach a peaceful resolution. The spokesperson stated that the strike, scheduled from December 11 to December 13, became their only viable option to demand fair treatment.
