Nigeria aims to establish Africa’s first university solely focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Epe area of Lagos.
The university, named Wini University, plans to equip the country’s youth with advanced AI skills and transform them into innovators, positioning Nigeria as a global leader in technology and innovation.
Wini University also aims to reduce unemployment across the continent and contribute to the growth of the technology community. Additionally, the university plans to be an educational hub that produces high-quality academics and students in fields such as AI and quantum computing.
This initiative is inspired by the first AI-focused university established in Qatar. The Nigerian government is also looking to transform Lagos into Africa’s Silicon Valley, and the establishment of this university aligns with that vision.
If successful, this remarkable initiative by Nigeria could inspire other African countries to adopt similar strategies in the future.
