Orlando Pirates player Monnapule Saleng had not been attending training and matches recently. As a result, his future at the club has been frequently discussed in the media in recent weeks.
The club and his management have released statements regarding the rumors surrounding the player. Initial rumors suggested that Monnapule Saleng had rejected an attractive overseas opportunity a few years ago. More recently, it was claimed that Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly had reached an agreement to sign him.
However, according to the rumors, Orlando Pirates’ decision to block the deal reportedly upset Saleng, leading to him missing training. Nonetheless, the management company P Management stated that these rumors could not be true.
Even so, Saleng remains sidelined at Pirates. Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi avoided commenting on Saleng’s future, but the club has decided to extend the player’s contract for another two years.
This means that Saleng will not be able to sign a pre-contract with any other club. Any club interested in him will have to purchase him from Pirates.
