Ghana’s national team’s new head coach, Otto Addo, has announced a 23-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
The inclusion of three new players in the squad stands out. These players are Kamaradini Mamudu from Medeama SC, Benjamin Asare from Accra Hearts of Oak, and Razak Simpson from Nations FC.
Additionally, Arsenal’s star midfielder Thomas Partey, who missed the AFCON due to injury, has recovered and returned to the squad.
Another player making a comeback after an injury is Kamal Deen Sulemana from Southampton FC. CD Lugo’s Jerry Afriyie and Genk’s Christopher Bonsu Baah have also received call-ups.
The selected players will assemble on Monday, March 17, 2025, and after four days of training, they will face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 21, 2025. Three days later, the Black Stars will play against Madagascar.
Unlike their AFCON performance, Ghana has performed well in the World Cup qualifiers. They currently sit second in the group with 9 points from 4 matches, having secured three wins.
Ghana’s qualifying campaign started with a 1-0 victory over Madagascar, followed by a loss to Comoros. However, in June, they secured back-to-back wins against Mali and the Central African Republic, keeping their hopes of World Cup qualification alive.
