Pan-African telecommunications provider Paratus Group has announced its expansion into Tanzania through a joint venture (JV) with Green Telecom, a Tanzanian-based telecom solutions provider. This move comes just four months after the launch of Paratus Kenya, reinforcing the company’s growing presence in East Africa and its broader sub-equatorial expansion strategy.
Strengthening Connectivity in Tanzania
Paratus Group’s Chief Commercial Officer, Martin Cox, emphasized the significance of this expansion for both the company and Tanzanian businesses in need of high-quality connectivity services.
“Having secured the necessary regulatory licenses, we are delighted to be partnering with Green Telecom and to launch Paratus Tanzania. With professional technical engineering teams deployed nationwide, Paratus Tanzania is well-positioned to serve rural and under-served areas with reliable connectivity and backup solutions,” Cox stated.
Targeting Key Sectors for Growth
The Managing Director of Paratus Tanzania, Said Alli, expressed enthusiasm about the joint venture’s potential, particularly in key industries such as tourism, mining, healthcare, and NGOs.
“Tanzania is currently experiencing a tourism boom, with visitor numbers increasing by approximately 25% over the past year. This presents significant opportunities for the sector. Additionally, we will focus on industries such as mining, the health sector, and the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP). More importantly, we anticipate creating numerous job opportunities in the coming year,” Alli said.
Green Telecom’s Role in the Partnership
Established in 2013, Green Telecom initially provided technology solutions for mobile network operators (MNOs) before expanding into connectivity and telecom network services. The company specializes in customized solutions for network management and integration, making it a strategic partner for Paratus Group’s East African expansion.
With this partnership, Paratus Tanzania aims to enhance digital infrastructure, drive innovation, and contribute to Tanzania’s growing economy by delivering reliable and scalable connectivity solutions across the country
