The 8th Annual Forum Ideas (AFI2024) is taking place in Djibouti from November 24 to 28, 2024. The forum aims to address regional peace and stability by bringing together key leaders and experts from across the Horn of Africa.
Under the patronage of Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh, AFI2024 serves as an important platform for discussing regional cooperation, trade, and peace. This year’s theme focuses on enhancing stability and promoting collaboration based on rules, with a particular emphasis on the Horn of Africa’s pressing challenges.
Prominent speakers include Dr. Bashir M. Sheikh Ali, who will explore how Somali-Ethiopian port access disputes can be transformed into opportunities for growth through dialogue and strategic trade partnerships. Additionally, Somali researcher Dr. Mohamed Bile Hashi will examine how lessons from ASEAN could guide regional cooperation in the Horn of Africa.
Also contributing to the forum are experts such as Dr. Tunç Demirtaş from Turkey’s SETA Foundation, who will discuss maritime security in Somalia and Turkey’s support through a British school approach.
The forum will feature key figures such as Djibouti’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Ilyas M. Dawaleh, and Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, who will share their perspectives on the importance of regional collaboration.
AFI2024 is seen as a significant opportunity to strengthen diplomatic ties, boost economic cooperation, and contribute to the ongoing peace processes in the region.
