South African President Ramaphosa stated that South Africa’s case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) was filed as a signatory to the Genocide Convention.
“We appreciate the support from several countries for our ICJ case. The ICJ’s rulings indicate a credible allegation of genocide against the people of Gaza.”
“They also emphasize that states must act to prevent genocide by Israel and ensure they do not contribute to violations of the Genocide Convention through assistance,” he added.
“We reaffirm our demand for an immediate ceasefire and the release of all hostages. A lasting solution lies in establishing a Palestinian state that coexists peacefully with Israel, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
